Oppo has unveiled the Reno 14 Pro, following the popular Reno 13 Pro. While the phones seem nearly identical at a glance, deeper usage reveals subtle differences that impact overall performance and user experience.
Both smartphones sport 6.83-inch AMOLED displays with punch-hole front cameras and three-lens rear setups. The visual appeal is nearly the same, featuring curved edges and slim bezels. However, the Reno 14 Pro includes a more refined curve that, while stylish, can be harder to grip. In contrast, the Reno 13 Pro's flatter design offers better in-hand comfort for everyday use. Both models deliver smooth scrolling with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The Reno 14 Pro features the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chip, whereas the Reno 13 Pro runs on the Dimensity 8350. Both devices pack 12GB RAM, enabling strong multitasking. While both handled heavy apps and tasks like gaming and video editing without lags, the 14 Pro showed slightly better response times and efficiency in intensive scenarios.
Both phones offer 50MP front cameras and optical image stabilization. The Reno 14 Pro enhances group shots and landscape photography with a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, outclassing the Reno 13 Pro's 8MP ultra-wide lens. Low-light and zoom photography are handled well by both, supported by a 3.5x optical zoom.
Oppo upgraded the battery on the Reno 14 Pro to 6200mAh, with support for 50W wireless and 80W wired fast charging. In practical use, the phone ran throughout the day under heavy media and gaming activity. The Reno 13 Pro houses a 5800mAh battery with the same wired charging support, though it showed slightly quicker drain during multitasking.
Both models come with essential features like in-display fingerprint sensors, 5G, NFC, and IP68/IP69 ratings. Reno 14 Pro also adds Wi-Fi 7 support, reverse charging, and an IR blaster. The Reno 13 Pro includes Wi-Fi 6 but lacks a few newer additions.
Priced around Rs 33,200, the Reno 14 Pro provides updated hardware and added connectivity benefits. The Reno 13 Pro, still holding strong in terms of features, costs approximately Rs 49,999. The 14 Pro offers more value for users seeking performance and longevity at a lower cost. However, users preferring a proven premium device may still lean towards the 13 Pro.
